30 October - Pancakes!
Hi there. It's Sumari from EasyHealthyKids.com, and in this week's newsletter you'll find our favorite pancake recipe, which goes really well together with this sugarfree berry jam. Plus quiet time ideas and activities for babies and toddlers.
The family: Fred is a headstrong 3 year old toddler boy, and Sarah is my sweet 10 month old baby girl.
Fred's favorite food of the week
Fred loves to make and eat pancakes. I love to bake with coconut and nut flours because they are higher in beneficial nutrients than regular flour.
Both Fred and Sarah enjoyed these easy to make coconut flour pancakes. I made a double batch so we had some left for snacks.
It goes great with this sugarfree chia seed jam and plain yoghurt.
Sarah's favorite food of the week
This Chia Seed Blueberry Jam is one of the healthiest foods you can eat (in my opinion).
Why? Both chia seeds and blueberries have a health star rating of 5 stars. It's also very easy for a baby to eat because the blueberries are broken down by simmering them. You can use any berry you have on hand.
Both my kids love this "jam", on its own or on bread/pancakes.
Fred's activity of the week
I recently read an article on how to establish good mental health in kids, and it listed the benefits of quiet time or relaxing activities for kids.
I'm now trying to establish an hour each day where Fred plays on his own with his toys or activities. However it can be tricky to implement...
Here's a great article on how to establish quiet time. The author said she also struggled to establish quiet time but the tips in this article helped her.
Sarah's activity of the week
Sarah is very interested in the contents of her diaper bag and loves to go through the bag. So I decided to create a "discovery bag" for her.
My plan is to fill the bag with things that I have around the house. Here's a great article that I'm going to use to create a discovery bag for Sarah.
