20 November - Tasting Rainbows...
Hi there. It's Sumari from EasyHealthyKids.com, and this week we started preparations for Sarah's birthday party, and we had a blast making and tasting rainbow smoothies: a fantastic baby and toddler activity to spark an interest in yummy smoothies.
The family: Fred is a headstrong 3 year old toddler boy, and Sarah is my sweet 11 month old baby girl.
Fred's favorite food of the week
I'm busy making food and treats for Sarah's birthday party. Fred loved these mini banana muffins...he ate 4 of them, one after the other.
I tried chickpea flour, because it's less expensive than some of the other flours, and full of fiber and protein. I added extra Stevia, and used butter instead of oil. Also, to mask the chickpea taste I added 2 scoops vanilla protein powder.
Fred's activity of the week
Fred and I had fun making and tasting rainbow smoothies.
He was a bit resistant to tasting them, but I convinced him to taste most. I still have a lot of ingredients left to make more smoothies. These smoothies taste yummy and they are fun to make with your kids.
Sarah's favorite food of the week
Sarah enjoyed the banana smoothie in the rainbow smoothie tasting activity.
Banana is probably her favorite food, because it's so soft to eat. I bought reusable food pouches for her, and will be trying more banana recipes. Here's a great post with how to make your own baby food pouches.
Sarah's activity of the week
Sarah is starting to get really interested in toys and the world around her. I'm thinking of what to buy for her first birthday.
This post has a few good ideas for gifts for a one year old baby girl. I think Sarah will enjoy the play purse and play doll.
