4 March - Oat Fingers...

Hi there. It's Sumari from EasyHealthyKids.com, and this week's newsletter is filled with easy and fun play activities and easy and yummy recipes. I have a baked chickpea snack, oats fingers and lots of ideas for easy play.

The family: Fred is a headstrong 3 year old toddler boy, and Sarah is my sweet 1 year old baby girl.

Fred's food of the week

Fred's kindergarten doesn't allow nuts in lunchboxes, so this recipe for roasted chickpeas is perfect to pack with lunch.

The recipe includes 6 different flavors so lots of variation. Fred's favorite is the honey cinnamon.

Fred's activity of the week

This Apple Tree ABC Match Printable is a great activity for preschoolers like Fred, to help them learn upper and lower case letters.

They take upper case letter stickers, and then match them to the corresponding lower case letters on the apple tree.

This download includes a fun, free apple tree printable and directions to make it.

Sarah's food of the week

These porridge fingers are so easy to throw together and eat (2 minutes cooking time).

They are especially great for giving to small children because they're so easy to grip (unlike a bowl of oats).

Sarah doesn't like traditional oats but she loved these oats fingers. Apple was her favorite. I found they came out better if you double the recipe in one container.

Sarah's activity of the week

Sarah loves messy play so this list of Play Recipes for Kids is perfect for her. I like the first slime recipe where you take cornflour and dish soap to make a simple slime.
