18 September - Exploring Rice...

Hi there. It's Sumari from EasyHealthyKids.com, and this week we explored rice. I tried new rice dishes that turned out to be Fred and Sarah's favorites. Fred also discovered a love for playing with rice.

The family: Fred is a headstrong 2 year, 11 month old toddler boy, and Sarah is my sweet 9 month old baby girl.

Fred's favorite food of the week

Any dish with rice is always a big hit with Fred. This week we tried out a local food delivery service. One of their dishes was a Butternut Risotto. A tip: If you've got picky eaters like Fred who doesn't like butternut, I recommend you serve the butternut separately.

Sarah's favorite food of the week

Sarah and Fred love to eat rice. But it can become quite messy when they eat it. These cool rice cups contain the rice and make it easier to eat. It's also a good side dish for meat.

Fred's activity of the week

Fred not only loves eating rice but also playing with it. We used the idea of this Recycle Bin Rice to play with rice and recycled items.

The only problem is that Fred doesn't keep his rice in his tray...he likes to throw it in the air. I just put them both in their high chairs to clean it up.

Sarah's activity of the week

My sister's baby is 2 months older than Sarah and she also likes doing activities with her baby. I asked her for her favorite activities to do with her baby and she sent me her favorite activities for babies between 9 and 12 months.

I'll be trying this activity list out and will let you know how it goes. When it's warmer I'll try the jelly sensory play.
